Re: Disable 'edit this page'

Yeah, but if I did that then you would know how to decompile it. Kinda defeats the purpose don't ya think?

Re: Disable 'edit this page'

Hrmm I'll take this lack of information as a challenge and not a bluff for 2 reasons.

1) I know you and your work, and I know your way too good to not be able to do something like that in flash.
2) You answered with sarcasm, and you do that when you challenge someone.

I got your number!

As far as disabling edit goes, you COULD encrypt your code, it won't stop people from getting it but it will keep them from downloading it and editing it.

Just because you think Google is the only SEO consideration does not mean I don't know what I am talking about. Bad developer, no caffeine

Google is the main search engine I care about. If I asked 1,000 people what search engine they use it'd be Google. When I look at my site stats and see where my visitors come from its usually Google. And when I receive emails from friends its usually @gmail.com . So yeah, I'm a huge fan of google SEO. Also take into consideration that a lot of search engines now can read flash and some are even going as far as to read text on images.

Who is talking about you? I am talking about SEO to someone who is NOT you. Get over yourself and knock of the passive aggression...lol

Re: Disable 'edit this page'

Guys,

I don't want to turn of my email notification because I really like the feature. But this is really annoying and I'm going to have to if you don't stop doing this on my thread, which isn't supposed to be about SEO or who is the bigger idiot. Use PMs or something.

Thanks

You talk like that again and I'll slap you with a wet fish

This guy was just giving his side which is what this forum is about - listening and learning from different people.

Don't like it then you know where to go!

Brockomundo, you've had many suggestions, did you manage to get the answers you were looking for?

Re: Disable 'edit this page'

I found some decent discussion on how to solve the problem but since I posted this thread, I've realized completely blocking code is impossible. The people I deal with, however, are casual users, unable even to build their own site, so I don't envision them destroying my countermeasures.

I think I'll go with a multi-pronged approach, put a watermark on the document, encrypt the source code with this Java script which does a number on the code, create an inline frame within an inline frame of a blank HTML document and put the document inside, and put the content last (use Latin as a content placeholder until I finish the templates.)

These solutions should all be sufficient. Thanks for the suggestions everyone.
