website done abroad ???

I was hoping to have a website created for me in India - A flash website for my business ....
But without any knowledge of website development - I'm not sure about hosting , etc... will I have problems with the website do you think after its been done ????

No ... you won't have any problems. The internet is a standard thing (well ... you know ) Doesn't matter where it's made. You host is probably not even in your country So ... don't worry about it.

If I have problems with uploading a movie clip which this website will have ... who do I approach .... or problems with uploading site ???
sorry to sound so ignorant !!!! but I dont have a clue what happens after the site is created ...
Also is it Ok for them to do the domain registration ... or should I do it from UK here ????

if it's not contravening the forum rules i'd recommend vishal verma at innovision-india - a google search should help you find him. I've used him and he's reliable and cheap by uk standards

no, but there again I've a certain amount of knowledge and I used him mainly for certain work that I couldn't do myself

Is this person doing the whole site for you? HTML, clips, whatever? Make sure you get EVERYTHING from him! EVERYTHING means the whole shabang! PSD's, HTML, JS if used ... everything!

Domain registration can be done from anywhere. It's just a name. The important thing is the DNS is pointing to the right servers. Where ever you are hosting this site, they have DNS servers like something.domain.com and your domain has to point to that.

On completion of website what should I ask fo ??? hosting and domain registration is done by this company ???
And if I am putting a vieo clip on the web how long should it be - mine is 5minutes long - they are saying it should be no longet than 3minutes ??? not sure about this ????

Do you have a contract with them? If not, I wouldn't send a dime. If you do have a contract, all should be spelled out as to what you are entitled to.
At the very least, usernames and passwords for domain and hosting.

He's said everything in the e-mail - all the questions that I have asked to do with domain registration etc...
Is that sufficient , or is there any form of contract I should sign before half of the account is paid - the other half is paid on completion ....

You need to have a piece of paper signed by both parties. Anything less is far too risky.
Also since it's a flash site, get the .fla files. That way you can update the site. in the future . Good luck
