Need help with a blog idea!?

Hi everyone,

As some of you may well know, I am creating a blog using wordpress, this blog will involve me talking about my new findings and what I have learnt in the web design industry. So, I have created this template, the layout of how I want it to look, but I am really struggling to think of a colour scheme for this blog.

Does anyone have any ideas of a colour scheme? or a link to a good colour scheme they have found on a website that you think would go well on a blog!

I have looked at numerous colour scheme websites, and I am struggling to find a suitable colour, so any help would be much appreciated.

If this is just your personal blog, not your portfolio website, i would go mad

You seem to like your vector art judging by your display picture, and as your blog is, in a way, a reflection of your self, i would go for really bold and bright colours that reflect you as a person and add serious impact to your blog.

Cheers for the quick reply Craig,

I have only ever created two vector images before, and both you have seen aha, so I am not the best at it, but I do try, because I love to draw, but thats another thing.

Well, I decided against that old blog design, I don't no it just didn't do anything for me anymore, so I decided against a new design, and completely new layout. But do you still suggest going for the bright and bold colours? any suggestions?

And also, should I buy a seperate domain name for this blog? or use a subdomain? from my portfolio?

Maybe blues and reds to match your display picture? Have you tried looking at kuler.com, there are lots of colour schemes on there,

A lot of people think that you should keep personal and work sites seperate and would therefore say bu a different domain.

However, I think that if you can see that the person you are paying to design you website is a decent honest person, then this would only encourage them to pay you for their site. It makes them feel that they actually know you and that you are not just a company or a business.

As long as there is nothing unprofessional on your blog then i seen reason as to why it cannot be a sub domain to your portfolio

Hi,

Thanks for the input, I have looked on kuler, it is my number on colour scheme website, but I am struggling for inpiration, I want a colour scheme that is bold as you said, and in your face, but as said before struggling for inspiration.

Ok, I think it is best if I buy a new domain name then, and because my blog will just be web design related I will just link to it from my main website, because I have a link on there on my navigation that leads to my blog.

Buy new domain name is the way forward then, thanks!
