Does this affect look professional?

Hi everyone,

Right, I need some advice, so, I have created my online portfolio for my business http://www.cfdesignz.co.uk

And on the portfolio page - http://www.cfdesignz.co.uk/portfolio.htm
I have a javascript rollover affect that shows you a bigger image of the screenshot, I have heard some negative feedback about it on my website, I was wondering what you all thought.

I got the idea from - http://bestwebgallery.com/

Also, I am currently modifying the other pages on the website, so the navigation is currently there on those pages.

Thanks
Cracka

Re: Does this affect look professional?

could you utilise the space on the right? i'm guessing that the feedback you have had so far is around the fact that the enlarged image overlaps the other work, and doesn't really say anything.

I would have a box on the right that the work would pop up into, along with some explanatory text around the project, what was done (code v's design vs both), how much each one cost the client and the timescale for delivery. this will give the client a great understanding of your skill level, what can be achieved for what cost and to what timescale.

you would also need some osrt of rollover effect on each of the images (probably a border colour change) just to highlight where you are.

One final thing; the header is also showing your work at present, so the portfolio looks a bit repetative.

I personally like the effect, but with a few tweaks could be alot better.

Same as Stew. Which ever image you hover over, it should display in the empty space on the right with some information as well. That would look fantastic.

Re: Does this affect look professional?

i love stu nicholls, he is such a great guy, take a look a this photo gallery to see the effect I mean. http://www.cssplay.co.uk/menu/gallery.html

I would personally combine it with a show/hide div effect so that you can also have text, but this may go against accesibility. http://www.adesdesign.net/php/tutori.../hide_div.html

actually, you could just use the show hide effect and have an image and text appearing on rollover
