Re: forums

basically what i am asking is how do you make it so that someone can change the content of a webpage while on that webpage, but what they did is preserved for all to see? thanks.

Re: forums

Hi

Sorry for the ignorance, but.. I don't understand what you are saying?
Are you talking about creating a website? or forum? or am I even on the wrong track here!?

Re: forums

what would be ideal is like a website where you show up, it shows previous posts that people have made w/ links to the threads and stuff, and then gives you a textfield to enter a reply, then adds that reply to whatever thread you want. thx

Re: forums

So, what do you mean? How to make a site like that? There a lot of forum software available in the net such as phpBB or VbBulletin. All you have to do is to install them and then you have your own forum...

Re: forums

I think what you are best is getting a forum, this will be by far the easiest and most effective way of accomplishing this

Re: forums

yes, i realize i need a forum, but what i am looking for is not just a download n' click software package- i am trying to learn how it works, so by doing that i learn absolutely nothing about technology and website design. I was just looking for someone to help me out and a push i the right direction: what is the method used for updating pages like threads in this forum so that others can read what a previous visitor to the website wrote? thanks

Re: forums

You need to learn the basic CRUD - (Create Read Update Detele)

Do you know any scripting language like PHP or ASP, basic HTML?
and do you know any database technology like MySQL or MSSQL?

If you do.. then we can proceed with the training
