New portfolio design!

Hi all!
I have just created a portfolio website sample using photoshop, and wanted some critique before I code it and so on!

So can anyone give me honest critique and possible improvements to it?
Thanks

Cracka

Re: New portfolio design!

Wow ... very green! Too green for my taste!

I really don't like the shading footer ...

Why is the header so wide but the content so narrow?!

Re: New portfolio design!

Thanks for the such quick critique!

I have always struggled with colours, so do you have any suggestions in colour? or mayb a colour that would go with the green?

&

I don't really know why the header i so wide and the content is narrow to be honest, just happend!

So what do you suggest?
Make the header smaller? or content wider? or change both?

Thanks
Cracka

Colors are always a difficult choice ... especially when it comes to designing your own site.

I always go to CSS Mania and look at other web design sites and see what's trendy in colors and in looks.

Believe it or not but my latest "simple" design of my portfolio went through 4 drafts ... all different colors and layouts

I always go to COLORLovers and kuler to find some great palettes.

Either Or ... just make it unified.

Re: New portfolio design!

I like the header a lot. I like the pages standing there and the reflection.

I think if you used a different color for the body and made it the same width as the header it would be nice.

Change the footer.. the black is too bold for the rest of the design.

Do a search for that green in the header on the sites Karinne gave you and see what colors are suggested as complimentary.

Re: New portfolio design!

Thanks Lchad!

I have made the header smaller so it is the same size as the body! And removed the footer at the bottom!

I will check out them websites for help on colours?
I really do struggle with colours, it annoys me! Lol!

Thanks

Re: New portfolio design!

I have looked on them websites now and a few other colour websites, and can't find anything that goes with my header!

Do you think I should just get rid of the green and use another colour? if so which colour would you suggest! just barin in mind that this is a Portfolio!

Thanks
Cracka

Re: New portfolio design!

Try a darker green or something ...

there's nothing wrong with the excessive green on the site ... it just need to be less "in your face"

For example, this site showcases on CSS mania this morning - http://www.twistsystems.co.uk/ - VERY yellow ... but because of the dark break right in the middle ... it's not so much in your face ...

Did that make sense?

Re: New portfolio design!

Yeah I have looked on there! and have seen plenty of colours associated with green, but when I then added it into photshop, it didn't go with my header at all!

sometimes you need to redesign a bit...you can't expect it to just work...thats what designing is!

Re: New portfolio design!

Yeah I get you!
Do you suggest I stick with a greeny colour? or change completely!
Because I want the website to look kind of professional, because I am showing off my work!

Re: New portfolio design!

Why not grab a colour scheme you like of Kuler and work that into your structure...

Re: New portfolio design!

Hi all again!
As you all know, I am not the best with colours, but I have changed the site colours to see if any of them look any good, so was just wondering if anyone had any opinions on which is the best colour scheme?
If you think none of them, then just say! and any suggestions would be great!

Thanks
Cracka
