Background resolutions?

Need help with background..?
Hey. Ive recently made a new design for my site
www.clarkwebsolutions.com

If you are using 1024*768 the design should fit fine on your screen, if smaller then it will be to big. But if your like me, and use 1280*1024 (most peoples native resolution now), youll notice that it doesnt fit right on the screen.

I need to do something to the background, I could make it a single colour rather than a gradient but I dont really want to do that. Im guessing theirs probably something javascript/css based where it either notices the resolution and changes the background? Or enlarges/shrinks the background?

Regards,
Clarky // Hunter

Re: Background resolutions?

Fade it out to a flat colour at the edges, or add a border at the sides.

Actually, 1024x768 is still the most popular one

Stats for June and stats for July

yep 1024 x 768 comes standard with most Monitors (LCDs). And considering most people don't know how to change it that's what ya get!

I'd fade the color all the way out to a flat tone or add a border like mentioned above. I usually just fade it out. I would show you an example but my server is down due to maintenance.

Re: Background resolutions?

Fade it out? Should I just make a background that is 1600*1200 so that in lower resolutions it will just show less of the background?

Clarky

No, because then you will have the same problem when someone uses a 2400*1800 resolution. Also this will require a larger image, which takes longer to download.

Re: Background resolutions?

Ahh actually, I get what you meant now. Fade it to a flat colour for those in 1024*768, then when its enlarged itll look fine.

Thanks for the quick replys,
Clarky
