Tutorial Section on your website

Is it a good idea to put a tutorial section on your website? e.g padraigcurran.com

Thanks,
Pádraig.

Re: Tutorial Section on your website

If you want to attract developers and designers it's a good idea.

Hehe, the clients wont buy your design work, they'll use your tutorial for free and do it yourself. Although, im not sure, it could be good or it could be bad for the reasons i state above! I say whatever you want to do!

Re: Tutorial Section on your website

I am not trying going to make a tutorial called "build your own website"...lol.

I'm just going to make some tutorials on little photoshop techniques and stuff.

Re: Tutorial Section on your website

If your tutorials are good, people will link back to you which will improve SEO. So why not!

Re: Tutorial Section on your website

As long as your tutorials are good they'll get read. I say go for it. I always wanted to start a blog but then got worried that no-one would want to hear what I have to say. I have now realised that I don't care what they think. In a way its not for them, its for me. So after I build one (and that should be fun) I am going to start writing.

What I'm trying to say is if you want to write some tut's and have a dedicated section on your site then go for it.

Pete.

Definately, add some tutorials...especially if they are photoshop related...I know many people who would like to know how to use it and what you need to do. I think you might find a built in audience.

I'll put more work into the tutorials, then. The portfolio comes first, though.

Re: Tutorial Section on your website

Hi,

It's also worth creating some articles about website development and adding these to your website as well. tutorials are good but try to keep them simple. With your protfolio try creating a master / details system for users viewing your website work e.g. http://www.dcpweb.co.uk/portfolio.html

Re: Tutorial Section on your website

I'd love to ditch the tutorial section on my website, and replace with an article section. However, I doubt that anyone would find them interesting!
