Page Titles

What is the most effective titling scheme for a web site. Is it good to have a few keywords in the title? I am making a web design web site - should I title my pages like this?

index.php - Alien Juice Designs: Home
services.php - Alien Juice Designs: Services
portfolio.php - Alien Juice Designs: Portfolio
contact.php - Alien Juice Designs: Contact

How do you title your pages?

Re: Page Titles

I was told when I first got my site critiqued:

Quote:
'Home Page', 'Catalogue', are titles that make sense to you, but don't give enough information to the visitor.
I'd recommend:
'Home Page' > ''Sci-Fi and Horror - Elsewhere Books"
'Catalogue' > ''Elsewhere Books Catalogue"
I have followed this advice ever since.

Re: Page Titles

Yep, plus for SEO that is not a good idea. Home Page is not going to help your rankings. Be detailed, like Sara said!

Re: Page Titles

Your title should be your main header (FE - title before h1, not title = h1). Like a SEO Guru told me, don't put Your company Name in your title, because unless your user is a complete moron they know that they are on your page. Basically describe what your page is about in a few words and then put it in your title, but make sure it makes since to the user as well as the Search Engines.
