Would it look in unprofessional if I bought a domain name with numbers in it.

Thanks,

Re: Domain name

I would think it was dodgy site. I associate numbers at the start of URL's as spam or a scam site.

Re: Domain name

I know. I'm not actually going to start a forum called 404forumz, I was just wondering wether numbers look professional or not.

Re: Domain name

If you setup a domain with numbers in it will be hard for user to use. EG

www.404.com
user will try to type tthe number in, four, or even for.

There are 3 ways of writing the number two. (Two, Too, and To)..
and 2.

So if you uses number it be confusing for some user.

Re: Domain name

Nah, it just depends on how it is done. For example, I own 123websitenow.com. I think that is a cool name. But hey, I never did anything with it...dang I should...lol.

Re: Domain name

I've had several days to think about this and I have to tell you I think it's a great idea to use numbers. Whenever your site is listed anywhere by Alphabetical order, you will be listed at the top of the list. Numbers come first!
I think it's brilliant! How often do you have to ask for specific spelling of a domain? Almost everytime. So what's the difference? You explain the numbers instead.

Re: Domain name

I'm not sure about ya'll but if you see a domain name online you don't have to worry about spelling. If you have business cards for a business site you don't have to worry about spelling there either. I think the main thing is to not overdue the numbers. For Example - 123456Websites.com would be a stupid name, but 4UDesigns.com would be a really cool name. Just depends on the name. Ohh, and if you need some tips for finding catchy domain names, I'm very good at finding hot names that are available. Just hit me up and I'd be glad to help out.

Re: Domain name

This kind of domain name reminds me of email addresses like John123@yahoo.com or 555sunshine@hotmail.com, which gives an impression that the email owner can't figure out something interesting.

Well, there are other examples like u2 (the band), which turn out to be great ideas!

Re: Domain name

It depends on how you use the numbers - but to answer your question yes I think it's OK to have numbers in your domain name.
