How to set up a buying system
Hi everyone i am setting up a website that requires the user to pay for one product.
Whats the best way to set up some sort ecommerce system? I'd use paypal but the problem is they have to signup first to create an account which basically means they can gain access to the website without paying. I know i could have them buy it first but this looks very amateur. Any other ways? Thanks Robert |

Re: How to set up a buying system
With paypal the user is not required to signup for an account. They can just purchase the product.

Re: How to set up a buying system
Well, if I understand what you want, OsCommerce or Zencart would be your best options. Even if all you have is one product. They are open source and you can use paypal if you want.

Re: How to set up a buying system
OScommerce requires registration before they can log in the first time. Is that what you are looking for?

Re: How to set up a buying system
Just have them register and then give them like 'amatuer' or 'gust' status, requiring them to buy the product/subsvription to complete there process. Like e-mail verification, I allow my users to register and get 'previews' of site interaction, but before they can do anything of great fun or importance they must verify their account.
Just let them look at a preview-ish thing then have them complete the process by buying the paypal subscription/product and then give them the appropaite status.

Re: How to set up a buying system
How about restricting log in by having a demo link that takes them to a login user name of admin and password admin. I have seen that on the web on alot of sites.
