Web presence suggestions?

Hello all,

I am new here and am looking forward to getting some great feedback from the developer community.

I am currently working with a team of developers on putting together a photojournalism multimedia package for local photograhers. My role in the team is anything related to social networking and PR. Basically it's my job to do what I can to beef up our web presence as much as possible, which, of course, includes, but is not at all limited to search engine optimization. We have already tackled the basics, like myspace and facebook. I am new to social networking and was hoping this community might be able to give me some suggestions for enhancing our web presence or perhaps point me in the direction of helpful resources on the topic. Does anyone have any input? Thanks in advance, I look forward to hearing your responses.

You might try http://digg.com/ It's something at least. Other than that, do your best to get links pointing to your site (the ones here don't count, though. They have rel="nofollow" in them). Also setting up a good HTML structure using the proper doctype, tags and keywords is essential.
