selecting PHP code - errors

One of the members was having trouble with some PHP code he copied from here: PHP mail() --> Making a Form / Validating Input / Sending an email
I tried it out and got the same errors, there are no syntax errors so I have no clue what's going on.... Somehow the [select all] feature breaks the encoding or something and creates parser errors....

I experimented a bit by changing encodings (UTF-8, ANSI) but that also doesn't solve the problem. I also tried replacing characters like "(,),{,;,'" and so on but that also didn't help....

I attached the same code as a file and the errors are gone, so something is FUBAR there....
