Premium Memberships: Has there been any more thought on this? What's the update?

Rob is away for the week, so to be honest, I don't think we'll make a definite decision this week, until he returns.
However, please feel free to discuss this topic! |

I think we should do this, but I think that we should get somekind of pop over image to come up on our websites. It would be transparent except for yall's DOT graphics. I know it will be dots. And it will play for about 3-6 seconds and then go away. I think that would be cooler than anything else. That way, you dont have to put a stationary banner on your site, and 2 it wont be taking up any space at all. If yall can make this happen, cool, but if not. Well.. Its just an idea.

Hmmm, not to keen on the popup idea, not sure if anyone else will be either. Nothing wrong with the standard link, or optional small graphic, possibly linked to via this domain.
I am kinda stumped on what you should get as a reward for this. I am very keen of the code share forum, that could be very beneficial to everyone. Just thought of this one... Books reviews (this sounds real geek), but it is sometimes a difficult choice of what book is the right one, which offers the best advice, etc. Honest reviews will be a true representation of the book. Maybe you can wangle a discount deal with Amazon, (i.e. setup a shop), where only link members get a small discount through the links on this site, or webforumz gets a kickback which again will help towards your costs? Hmmm?? This may be a long way off, but why not offer the standard promotion material all bearing the webforumz.com "dot thing" (sorry, just had to) logo; A Mug, T-Shirt, etc... Offer it at a small markup, which in turn will generate a small income to support the site. Just my $0.02 u2o BTW, put me down for 2 mugs! |

u2orange that is an excellent idea, we'll just have to look into it and see what is possible and, more importantly, affordable.
Comments anyone? |

Yeah I think its a great idea, except for no pop ups. No offense, but I am not sticking a still banner on my website, I dont like them, and I never will. I wouldnt even put a still banner of my momma's bday on my site. What I am talking about it a banner like you are thinking, yet it only lasts for about 3-6 seconds, and then dissapears so you can see your site. Its the best way to go.
If you dont like my ideas, ohh well... haha |

I have a place we can get our logo on every kind of marketing item (i.e. shirts, mugs, thongs, mouse pads, hats, etc...) FREE! Admins lets talk about this.

Thongs..! Now which admin wears those?

Whats the name of the website that you found to do this for you? I know of a couple of sites that will do this and take portions out of your profits. Probably the same you found, thats why I was wondering which ones you found.

still banners ... i think they're alright
but pop-ups ... noooooo but there are still other ways of generating revenue, i believe.... why not create a 'web design' team and help others make website for some income? since we're all web designers |
|

Hmmm... I think most people want something for free and few people that you would find crawling the web looking for something like that will pay. Especially when you can probably get it somewhere else for free with a little hard work...
... If we can find a good way of attracting people who are actually willing to pay then it's a good idea! |

<font face="Verdana">Hi
instead of designing websites, you could do only the ASP/PHP coding... for example guestbooks, polls and other stuff and allow guys to put it on their website including a link back to this website. This is a tried and tested marketing stratergy and has prooved to be very successful. By the way,I don't see why we need seperate premium memberships if its free. Why don't you just improve the services for normal memberships?? <hr noshade size="1"> Professional, Yet affordable web services. Only at www.amkint.tk</font id="Verdana"> |

Good points there.
Developing free scripts/tools could be a very good idea... what do you all think? |
|
|||

Well, also you might consider making some web templates for people to use. Nothing outrageous, but a nice looking, original template, that would be nice to see as well. I know that most of the time when someone wants me to do a site for them I really dont have the time to start from scratch,
Just a thought! |

Hmm, free code, seem's like a good idea to me

Membership after x amount of posts will just mean people posting pointless things JUST to increase their post count. That sucks...
|
|
|||
|
Yeah, thats a fair point.

<font face="Verdana">Memberships after X amount of posts wouldn't be fair. For example, I have a lot of experience in web programming and e commerce, but I don't always have the time to come here and post messages.
AND if you start giving premium memberships after X number of posts, guys will start flooding the forum!!!! Web Templates would be a nice idea! -Munim</font id="Verdana"> |

custom status for premier members would be a good benefit,
i'm more than happy to put a link on my site but i'm sure it wouldn't generate the right traffic their is allways going to be people out there who want somthing for nothing, ie. the bloke who posted the same message x times here and will probably never return, and those who ask for help but never spare the time to help themselves let allone others [beggars on the street.. dole jokeys! gurrr i could go on 4 days!] thats life though |
