Premium Memberships....
Could all members give feedback regarding premium memberships here:-
To receive a premium membership, you must link to Webforumz.com So far, the suggestions of premium membership offerings include:- <ul>[*]Hidden Forums (Tutorials, code libraries, etc)[*]Custom Avatar[*]Access to a very cool desktop wallpaper which lists active topics, active users, last X threads and alerts you when you receive a Private Message[/list] If anyone has any feedback regarding this (Moderators and Admins may post here... or in the Admin Forums).. including further suggestions of premium membership benefits, then reply here. Premium Memberships wont be turned on until we set in the stone the rules of membership and it's benefits (There will not be any cost involved here) Cheers all,

Personally, I think the access to the hidden forums would be very cool. The wallpaper isn't a big deal to me because I can just keep a tab open in Mozilla to the Active Threads page.

I guess I'm not understanding what would determine premium membership if there are no costs involved. What did you have in mind? Level of participation?

I think it would be very helpful to everyone, and I think we should go for it. That way more people would be visiting our site and we could have our own discussions. I like the idea.

Sounds like a workable idea. A code library of actual problems encounterd, and examples of how to should be very useful.

Have to say that at this stage we probably wouldn't link, not from our corporate sites anyway, most of them are getting lots of traffic so we'd need a way of generating money from such links. This raises the question of validating links to you... what is to stop someone putting the link on a personal site etc? Perhaps it would be better to offer better linking and banners etc if you want to encourage incoming links? Maybe track incoming links so that the more traffic someone gives you, the more banner views you give them. |

No, I dont like that idea. I mean, we are here trying to help this site out, as it is trying to help us out with our problems/needs. We dont need this site to be paying us for it as well.

I figured the link would be from a personal website. I certainly couldn't get a link on my "company" page (I work at a University).

My point was that if your aim is to get incoming links then offering premium membership probably aint the best way to do it... you'll just get links from peoples private sites which may or may not be a good source of traffic or google ranks. Certainly we wouldn't be able to link from our sites to a web developers site like this. |

There are good points both ways. I think it will be a pain in the a** to maintain and keep fresh enough to make it work, as well as the links we will get will not be the greatest.
However, a link is a link. All sites eventually get spidered by someone. Not all search engines rely on submissions. As well, when google spiders our site it follows all links, even to other peoples sites. And if they have a link back to us...that helps. I am interested more in what kind of content people would like to see. What feature set would you want? |

I think a "Code Submission" forum would be both educational and helpfull. There is always a time when someone has accomplished the same as you, but better.
Also for a laugh a 'the biggest pile of crap website of the week' or 'the most useless website of the week' u2o |

Hmm, you could be going somewhere there u2o! Code submission would maybe be a good idea if there could be a code submission section for each and every forum based on scripting that could be called up from within that forum.
It'd be a really big job for the ASP scripting admins but if you guys really want it? As for the worst website of the week. Please be out guest! Maybe I could give you all an example in: http://www.ratemypoo.com/ratemy/poo |
