Would you consider Webforumz to be web2.0?

Since Web2.0 is more of an idea and a philosophy than a layout or design, I was wondering what you thought about this forum and if you think it is web2.0-ish.

I encourage you to get the full idea about web2.0 before you comment, vote, or post. You can do that here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Web_2.0 .

Good Luck, Webforumz

Re: Would you consider Webforumz to be web2.0?

I think it is partly, because you can't embed part of webforumz into other websites. Like I can't embed my blog on my profile in another site, without coding around xml. Its close but not quite there.

Remember its the idea that the web is more liquid and easy to access then in the previous "version." Hint: Web 2.0.

Re: Would you consider Webforumz to be web2.0?

Web 2.0 by definition is the new age of user accessibility and interaction. Although the new WebForumz is more so than the old one, many of its techniques are tried and true oldies. So for me, only partly.

Re: Would you consider Webforumz to be web2.0?

i would say that wf is partly there, but to be honest, if it was completely web 2.0 i don't think i would like it...

Web 2.0 to me can swing both ways, it either looks really nice or really bad, things like oversized text sometimes puts me right off

Re: Would you consider Webforumz to be web2.0?

Well I was not just referring to web 2.0 style, I was also referring to the web 2.0 idea.

Yes, I agree with you some of the styles of web 2.0 are a bit questionable. Although Ebay.com can pull off a good web 2.0 style, its easy to use but I don't think every website needs a web 2.0 layout or design to be web 2.0-ish.

Yes I do to, but if you never try new things you can never learn the best way to do something. I just think this one step in the right direction. (Regardless how many steps there are.)

most ideas are sound, its putting them into practice that kills most of them, if it cant work piratically then the idea is bad, but since web 2.0 works 'sometimes' i would say that the idea is a reasonable one with lots of room for improvement

Re: Would you consider Webforumz to be web2.0?

Lots... and Lots... and Lots... of improvement. I think some of the larger Web 2.0 business are holding somthing back. (Wonder if its that printing press in the basement...)

I disagree, I don't think that it is as important or as web-changing as many think.

Re: Would you consider Webforumz to be web2.0?

I'm suprised people aren't sick of all the web 2.0 debating and the few web 3.0 debates out there....

Psssht, as said it's more web 1.5, but that's all it needs to be... anything more might (and probably would be) overkill.

While web 2.0 and the idea of it is great, in practice theres a time and a place, and abused it's desired effect and theory is destroyed.

They aesthetics that have taken on the name of 2.0 will phase out, just another small trend, but over time even as this fades out and aesthetic trends move on, the backbone of what is web 2.0 shall remain.

I still feel you can't really give evolutionary stages a name, i mean when did we ever get man 2.0 (sexist i know!)...

Reminds me of those husband 5.6, and mistress 1.0 blogs and the ramblings from wife 3.2 over the 404 errors from her new upgrade from boyfriend 1.2 to husband 5.6

(some people have too much time... i know... but then again i didn't stop reading ).

Rambling way off the subject i know, disregard the last two paragraphs please... it things i majorly discredited myself there xD

Can you tell me which blog, or which site you CAN embed part of another site without using xml?

We can embed youtube in posts by just including a url (at least we can by later today), but I cant imagine how blogs could do the same...

Re: Would you consider Webforumz to be web2.0?

Its really just a suggestion, you can always build a PHP page that a user could send information to and include in one's project. for instance: blog.php?outside=true&bgcolor=cccccc&color=898989& style=tabular2 you get the idea. Or even have some javascript which translates the blog xml for you. IE <script type="text/JavaScript" src="/blog.php?type=javascript&outside-true&bgcolor=cccccc&color=898989&style=tabular2"></script>
