What do you use to create websites?

I was just curious what different people use to create websites?

I personally use Notepad+ (split window), photoshop, illustrator, xammp and flash (when required, streaming media etc.)

Also on a second note, does anyone know much about silverlight(microsoft) and air(adobe) and theres a few more on the market for creating "rich internet applications"

Anyone know much about it? Potentials, requirements, implementations, usability etc.

I know of another unreleased programming language to come out within the next year or so that's focusing on "rich internet applications"

But what exactly are they?

Adobe Web Premium, DW, PS, FW, Fl, Ill etc, also use WAMP for scripting.

Not too sure on silverlight and air at the moment

Re: What do you use to create websites?

Lol, i have about a dozon or so links to showcases galleries etc. And consistantly scanning google for new techniques and ideas... theres just so much bad content out there in regards to photoshop.

Yeah, i never realised quite how useful that would be, but i'm using the rulers/guidelines, validation links and highlighting elements contantly, and i'm finding the error console more and more useful in firefox.

You should download html tidy, it just makes you coding more presentable and easier to read, and also points out problems (right from the view source window).

I have like a gazillion tutorials (i'm still recieving free web designer magazines, which are pretty poor imho) and they tend to feature a silverlight tutorial each week now, but it's simple things such as video players, animated menu's etc. etc. (building up, starting with simple)?

Re: What do you use to create websites?

My Mac just died, but I used TextMate for backend stuff (Ruby on Rails), but I used Panic Coda to do the HTML and CSS. For purely static sites I use only Coda.

Panic.com/coda

and of course Illustrator, Photoshop, Cyberduck on Mac Filezilla on Windows, Putty on Windows to SSH into my servers. I've also used Aptana for a bit and it was pretty good. Most importantly iTunes is running 100% of the time
