windows or linux server???

Hey gang,

(not sure whether to put this in asp or php forum, so guess the cafe is the safest bet)

I understand a windows server is best with asp and linux with php but should I be preferring one over the other for monetary transactions?

any comments or advice would be great.
cheers

That was a term used by a host when I enquired about a windows server, and they advised a linux would be better for 'monetary transactions'.

There is no shop, so its not products or numerous things together, it is more likley to be just subscription type regular/annual payments. (There are things to pay for on the site, already, but they connect to paypal at present, so I am assuming they have no bearing on my original question)

Thanks aso186

Are they referring to security? I'm sure both systems have their flaws in this department, but they'll be somewhat negated by the software being used. I'm sure an SSL certificate is just as valid on either.
