PHP in a nutshell

I want to get started on php, and was just wondering whether this would be a good book to buy?

http://www.oreilly.com/catalog/phpnut/

Has anyone used their books before, i have heard that they are quite good, and that the for dummies series only deal with the basics?

any thoughts people?

thanks

craig

Re: PHP in a nutshell

The last time I was reading a book/text book was 3 years ago after I've graduated from a local university. After that, Internet is my only book
I know that there is a pro's and cont's with books and I might buy some books too for detailed learning on scripting language or databases.

The one you posted ^ seems like a good one for me to start finding. Thanks..
Cheers...

Don't go with the Dummies series.

'Creating your Own Database Driven Website in 30 days' By Kevin Yank is what I used.
'Programming PHP' by O'Reilly is good as well.

Re: PHP in a nutshell

Step by Step series also is like dummies
There are a lot of internet manuals for php programing you can try some first and then decide which book to buy.
