External HD

One of my brothers came to visit for Christmas with a couple of 250gb Western Digital Passports. They don't need any external power; that's right, you just need to plug the hard drive into the USB port! This will be so much easier to travel with than my honking 500gb drive that weighs 15 pounds.

I thought I'd share in case anyone else is in the market for some extra storage.

Re: External HD

Thanks for that, Ryan! I hate dragging such heavy, external power requiring hard drives around with me

Re: External HD

I need one, my internal drive is maxing out, and I can't afford to be doing many backups with the little tiny bit I have left :P

I got a sweet little 2,5 250GB Tough Drive from Freecom. They are still pretty expensive but worth every cent....

I have 200GB 2.5" Notebook hard disk which I always bring wherever I go
No need power supply, just plug it in the USB port and it's on (mp3's, movies, etc)

I buy a separate casing and hdd (seagate)!

Re: External HD

My bro got an external HD for christmas and wired it up to his PC (running Vista). Now he has a wireless connection between the HD and his Xbox 360, so can stream music, videos (High Def videos), pictures, etc from the HD to his TV downstairs.

He can also use the Xbox like a Sky+ box, and record TV shows straight onto the hard drive upstairs.

So, no need for sky + or a high def DVD player - cool or what.

Re: External HD

Yeah, I have one that I got on black Friday, pretty sweat! It's a 250GB pocket drive, so small no power just a small USB cord running from the drive to my laptop.

Re: External HD

That's pretty cool.
I love flash memory.. you can drill a hole through it and still use it (wouldn't recommend it though).

Re: External HD

I've noticed some bad reviews, but people generally have more to complain about than they do to praise something. My brother had nothing bad to say about them. I'll let you know if I'm disappointed, mine should be in tomorrow.
