stopping bots

webforumz is under attack, not in the hacker sense, but stealing content.

i thought i would check the search engines for my own website and i have found this website and post

http://webb360.com/component/option,...41/topic,661.0

this is the post i made here

http://www.webforumz.com/graphics-forum/43065-3-choices-3-headers.htm

i have also found other threads in the search engines that i had clicked yes to 'Hide this thread and replies from Search Engines?'

obviously, unless these foreign unknown bots are stopped, there is no point to the above choice because they will be listed by other sites.

i don't know if there is a way to do that, but as i said, what is the point of
'Hide this thread and replies from Search Engines?' all the time this is going on ?

Re: stopping bots

Interesting, I can't say for sure about the bot issue but I will make sure Rob looks into that. As far as hiding threads from search engines, it appears that the box was NOT checked on the thread you linked me too.

I edited the thread, and checked it for you. Notice that if you logout and view the thread it will give you an error about that thread being hidden from non-registered users.

Re: stopping bots

If we forget to mark something as hidden. Can we fix this or do you need to do it?
If so can you make it so that we can

Re: stopping bots

Nope I cannot, but the Moderator/Advisor of that area can fix this...aka, staff members. I investigated this method...thought that maybe the variable was not being passed, but everything seems to be functional, I even tested it as you. Perhaps it was back when we were getting the bugs out of the system. If you notice any other issues let me know!

SuperMembers can make their own thread hidden when creating it, that is the only time you can do this. You are on the newsletter team/staff, but that does not make you an Advisor. Only MODERATORS within their area of moderating can edit a thread to make it hidden after it is created.

Haha...yes I could redevelop the solved threads system, but we have a few other things to do first.
