Customer Services

Who are your winners and losers when it comes to companies providing customers service

Losers: Without doubt the worst mobs I have ever dealt with would have to be Dell and Archos.

Winners: Amazon are without doubt miles ahead when it comes to customer service. I recently purchased a faulty electrical item, within 4 days I had received a replacement.

Re: Customer Services

From a professional point of view there are some customer contact awards that are held every year.

From a personal perspective, I have never had any issues with face to face customer services. It's always over the phone that seems to be the worst. especially when it's online banking wanting me to veryify myself. sorry no, I don't know who you are and I will not be giving out my details. fools

Re: Customer Services

Good link WS, I think businesses are becoming more aware of providing high quality customer services. This is why most UK banks are going back to British based services.

Re: Customer Services

Poor:

AOL = Should be shut down for being useless.... 3 times I have requested my migration code and they have said they will send it to me within 48 hrs and I am still waiting... I reported them for not sending it to me!

Microsoft = Get arsey when they can't understand you on the phone.... I can't see how it is my fault that their people can't understand English!

Good:

Paypal: The 2 (possibly 3 times) I have had to submit claims for being ripped off, within 10 days I have had my money back.

I remember my Grandfather trying to talk to his bank a couple of years ago, and the agent on the other end refused to transfer him. Despite his assurances that they wouldn't be able to help on this occasion, they kept insisting that they could help him with any enquiry as well as the local bank staff, and if he would explain the issue they would be happy to help, blah blah blah.

Eventually, my Grandfather gave up and replied.

"Ok, fine, if you believe you can help me….. I think I have left my umbrella in the foyer, would you mind having a quick look to see if it is still there?"

He was immediately transferred......

classic. Banks are useless.... not naming any *cough*Natwest*cough* ... A direct line to your branch is ok..... when they actually answer it! Tried to call my local branch about 12 times and got through once (then I got cut off while on hold).

I think anything with the prefix "British", unfortunately. Gas, Telecommunications, Rail. All incompetent fools.

Re: Customer Services

We bought a new mouse (the computer kind!) from a small company who have an Ebay shop (wish I could remember their name now...). My hubby opened the package with his penknife and accidentally cut the wire on the mouse We contacted the guy to ask if we could buy another one, told him exactly what happened, that it was our fault, and he sent us another one for free, didn't charge postage or anything! That's good customer service.

Some people say they had had problems with Ebuyer but luckily I haven't.

Like VanessaJW, I bought a mouse and after a few weeks it stopped working. i contacted Ebuyer saying it was faulty and within a couple of days, a new mouse arrived and I didn't even have to send the old one back......another example of good customer service

Re: Customer Services

If I had a spare 6 hours I would tell you the whole story of Pete and his broken laptop. It took Dell, 3 months to start the warranty repair after the botched repair they dispatched it to the wrong address leaving me to get it couriered at a cost of £80 and then when I eventually received it I found they had loaded a German operating system onto it. Nah don't get me started on Michael Dell and his 2 bit company, it will spoil the good day I am having.

Yes..i know! I have bought from both places and it's Ebuyer i'm on about. I have returned several faulty items and they have never kicked up a stink about testing the item before giving a refund or replacement like some other online stores do

Re: Customer Services

Apple has always been very cool with me. The few times I did have any issues they corrected them without question. They sent me a box to ship my laptop in, paid for postage, replaced my screen and had it back to me in two days no questions asked.

Wanadoo: Worst Customer Service Ever Award (WCSE award), I'm not a racist at all but I can't understand Indian accents. And when I did it was awful service, all they said is that they would file an error.

Re: Customer Services

The worst of all has to be British Telecom. I wont bore you with the details, but for a phone company, they don't seem to be very good on the phone. Second to that is a company called Plus Net in my experience. Barclay's are pretty bad too...

A great company for support is Zen Internet.

Re: Customer Services

My customer service horror tale was the first, last and only time I purchased a pre-built computer. The company was Circuit City and it took almost a year to get a replacement. Guess what...they have completely lost my business.
