Re: Favourite Languages
Yeah, mostly because of the name. I am not really sure what it is or anything. A good friend of mine is a Cold Fusion developer so perhaps I should ask him what it is...haha.

Re: Favourite Languages
Yeah the name is cool
myspace runs on it though, and they get billions and trillions of errors ha

Re: Favourite Languages
I really like using PHP as there's so much to learn. Try and write my sites using XHTML using CSS
Would really like to learn JavaScript just so I can help other people and definitely want to learn Ajax as I like the way you can do things without having to refresh the page. Some other things I need to learn is Flash and Photoshop. Programming languages I have used in the past few years are Pascal (which i hated), Visual Basic, and Java which is not so bad when yo get used to it |

Re: Favourite Languages
Java is a big learning curve isn't it?
I'm halfway through c# which is completely OO. So it might be easier for me now

Re: Favourite Languages
Java is OOP so if you use OOP in PHP it will make it easier to learn. I have to start learning OOP using PHP but one step at a time as there is a lot I don't know about PHP

Re: Favourite Languages
I always use OOP for PHP.
I find it so much neater. But as OOP was added onto PHP, I find it lacks some features. Also nesting is forbidden :/

Re: Favourite Languages
My over-favorite programming language is PHP because it's such a powerful language, but easy to use and implement.
I'm not sure whether I like C# or C++ more; C# is so user-friendly (but has no pointers), but with C++ you can do much more stuff (and you have pointers). CSS is also kool because it looks so colorful in Notepad ++.

Re: Favourite Languages
hmmm, the easy explanation:
You can access the value stored in a variable two ways: using the variable name or using the address of the variable in memory. The second method you're using a "pointer" to the value stored in a variable. (And they did away with that in C# - gnurghhh.) It's kind of an abstract concept, took me a while to grasp it, but very powerful once you've understood it.
