TV Adverts

Currently watching Friends on E4 and 4 of the ads in the break have been for debt management...

Why are there so many dept companies out there and with what they promise in these ads how do they manage to run

Re: TV Adverts

Debt management is the best business to be in at the moment. A recent study showed that 7 out of 10 Britains have some sort of debt.

Re: TV Adverts

Maybe "shut up" for you as you are young and don't have a mortgage, a car, student loans, credit cards, etc... to pay. Wait 'til you finish school, get married and have kids ... then come back here and tell me that you are not in debt

As for the debt ads showing up on the Disney channel ... not rocket science. For parents probably at home with babies or small children might be watching tv with them.

Re: TV Adverts

God, i hate adverts altogether - especially in boxing. Grrr.

Adverts ruin a program, it gets to the best bit in a film then you get a damn advert!!

BBC = Number one! No adverts through films/programs

Also - Adverts are generally strategically positioned so Toys would be advertised on Kids TV channels.

Yes, and debt management often exacerbates that - What annoys me is that what they call debt management often is just a consolidation loan, and statistics show that most people who take out consolidation loans end up in more debt - sure they use the loan to pay off their high interest credit cards etc and their loan repayment is much less than they were paying on all the cards and stuff, but most often they end up running their credit cards up again, so they now have the card payments that they had before, plus the consolidation loan to pay! That's why those adverts annoy me, with the smiling people saying how much less they are paying each month - I just think "yeah, let's see where you are in a few months time!".

Sorry for the rant! hehe

Just saw this ha.
most of these companies put people in more debt and make loads of money out of it.
when i'm older and in debt, i'll look for a loan or whatever, don't need it thrown in my face

Yeah and these companies that charge 29.9% to exploit families that can't afford things like Washing Machines etc They are just glorified loan sharks!

The main ones that annoy me, are the ones who call you up and say

"**Your name**, How would you like a low interest loan? starting at a very reasonable 19.9%"

Once I got a mobile on contract, I started getting them once a week! The worst thing is with them, is that they will not accept that you don't require a loan. The only thing I have found that stops them calling is if you wind them up
