Search Google: it will give you a lot of information on various meanings. Here, it can refer to a record of the work you have done for clients, such as a web design portfolio. You can show new clients evidence of your previous work.

Is that the type of thing you mean?

Couldn't you use Google to find this out, or wikipedia?

My definition would be:
A portfolio is used to display work you have done to other people.

Thats a really basic one, though.

Portfolio is a "group" of objects placed in one area that is done by one person to show off their specific talents. A photographer could have a photo album which could be considered a portfolio, a web designer, puts all their examples of work on ONE page..that is a portfolio, or an architect, could have a leather bound display case full of sketches. That would also be a portfolio!

yea thats what i was asking for. I searched google and didn't get anything related to the web designing so i thought it has something different from what I though of. I also removed my portfolio link on my website coz I had the feeling its the wrong thing. I will put it back

I have no issues at all with anyone here in any of the forums think you are all very helpful, my english is not brill so if there are any spelling mistakes please bare with me, so my appoligies for not making it clearer from the start, I have issues with other orginisations.
