Microsoft Expression Web: Are they for real?

Microsoft Expression Web is MS's successor to FrontPage. In their ads they boast that the program uses style sheets and is standards compliant. Expression Web provides support for integrating XML, CSS 2.1, ASP.NET 2.0, XHTML, XSLT, JavaScript and other standard Web technologies into sites. It requires the proprietary .NET Framework 2.0 to be installed for the Microsoft ASP.NET Development Server. Expression Web uses its own rendering engine and does not rely on Internet Explorer's Trident engine.

The website can be found here... http://www.microsoft.com/expression/.../overview.aspx

Can this program possibly do all it says it can? Is this the end of web design as we know it?!?!?

I don't buy it. I think we're a long way away from having a tool that is accurate and comprehensive enough to replace the human touch.

Specially in the internet as we know it today, where browsers are so different and full of bugs and SEO is continually growing as one of the most important aspects of web-development.

Hmmm, I am not worried, it's made by Microsoft. They need to stick to office. But I sure as heck am going to buy it and give it a try. Who knows it might be good.

Just finished watching the video and....
...well, I don't think it's going to change my life, but it might be a good alternative to Macromedia. I'll give it a try...

Yeah, that's another interesting thing I was thinking about. Maybe this will end up being more of a tool for web designers than a website in a box for any average person. Who knows? Certainly a step up from FrontPage!

Doesn't look like anything revolutionary but it does give a spark of hope for MS. To be honest it is probably a combination of iWeb and Dreamweaver and parts of TopStyle.
