This forum

Hey as you know I think this forum is great. Has some great features, easy to use, doesnt double post things when you refresh the page, auto generation of thumbnails in the web critique section and more. The people are ok too

But, I did notice it doesnt validate for xhtml or css. I think it would be good to get it validated if possible as it is a web forum. I am not critising at all here, as some of my sites dont validate yet, and I know sometimes its just not possible. Just wondering if there is a reason, and if people think that maybe sometimes functionality is more important than if a site validates according to the w3c script.

Have people done sites that are impossible to validate, and is it really important if a site works on all browsers anyway?

Re: This forum

Well ... considering that vBulletin has a $hit-load of files ... it is quite the daunting task! It's not impossible ... it just need someone to sit down for a month or so  and get at it

* Ryan .... get your butt on it pronto. We're busted ... people finally started trying to validate it!*

Ha! yeah I can imagine it would take a long time to sort out. But my original question is really, how important is it if the site works fine anyway?

Re: This forum

Seriously though, I think the validation errors are site wide, meaning it would be quite easy to fix. Theres a duplicate ID and POST instead of post. that it as far as I can see. Probably all in one include file.

And the CSS looks simple to fix from what I can see.

Moojoo, you need to learn to share...Poor Ryan and Jacob have to sleep on the floor because you demanded and got the only bedroom with attached bathroom. As for slipping you bread....A brand new Kitchen was just added... ask J or R where it is....Take care and enjoy your stay. lol

Re: This forum

This would be a huge task. You are lucky you don't see more errors. Rob took care of most of the VB errors when creating this style sheet. But I will have you know that Webforumz is working on building a tableless design! This design will not only rock, but it will validate XHTML Strict. We should be complete within the next few years or so!

Nah, it would probably be done in about a year. That's being honest.

I was thinking about this. Why would it take a year to fix a couple of small errors? Even if every page was static, a find and replace tool could fix this in a few minutes. If the programming language is too obscure to allow for easy fixing of such errors, then why is it being used? Just wondering as I I can't get my heard around it.

Re: This forum

Because probubly vBulletin is the best forum on the market for such large communities such as Webforumz, also no other forum has the likes of vbSEO. You even answered some of your own questions in your first post!

Hmmm .... yeah ... no ... a forum has a $hitload of pages. So fixing it up an changing the layout or code is a big undertaking because of the amount of pages. See for yourself. Download punbb or phpbb and you'll get a little taste of what a forum looks like code-wise
