Hidden Share Folder/Drive

Re: Hidden Share Folder/Drive
uhhh...ok lemme try and decipher this lol...
I believe you access it through your Network places, and disabling it is just deleting the connections or getting off that network or router. |

Well thanks both of you... I tried to access them both ways( \\192.168.1.3\C$ , \\pcname\C$ ), but both of then require a password (popup control box)in order to access the drives. When i check, that pc doesn't uses any password to log on. I have already share the C drives with the share name "C$" What could be the problem. Thanks..

Re: Hidden Share Folder/Drive
Well since their is no password, it would be the username on that computer and no password.

Re: Hidden Share Folder/Drive
Firstly I would wonder why you wnat to do this? are you the local network admin guy for these PC's? if not then you may get into a bit of trouble for looking at someone elses PC.
Anyways, you need to right click on the local disk (c:/ and then hit the sharing tab. ensure that the drive is shared as c$. you then need to go into the security tab, and add the user group to the PC i.e. 'adminuser' or add your individual network account. you can then do as the above and open the folder by entering \\computername\c$\ if all that fails, then check that the network cable is in the back of the PC!

Re: Hidden Share Folder/Drive
Well if you're sharing all files but there are certain ones you want to be kept private then it would be handy. I'm sure you can do it but I don't know how.

Well, thats not my point. If that is the case, we can use "folder permission" on a specific folder (that we like to share) that will allow certain user to access them. About the "Hidden Sharing C$", I just wanted to "learn" the practical way of it, how to use it. When to use it?? Leave it to me... Thanks.
