Link Swapping Practice

Have you guys noticed something lately. I get many requests a day to swap links. I'm all for it if it's related somehow to my site. But this is what I've been getting lately.
They want to swap links for this site: The email goes on to say: That above page has a PR of 4 ....Then they offer to put MY link on this page....
Which has a PR of 2

I wonder how many people are falling for this type of link swapping?

I went down the road of link swapping and it never worked for me. The return didn't make up for the time spent organizing these link shares - and trust me, I had no problem getting link shares, I could get thousands in a day...

Then I decided to never waste anytime of pointless link shares ever again. I'd recommend the same to anyone reading this...

You have to be very careful with linking. I was told to go online and just start searching for the type of sites you think you might want to link to and visa versa. I put my sister to work doing that since they would be for her site. She has proven to be a tiger about it. And she has tracked down some sites I woulde have never thought of.... I originally picked her to do the work because 1. I didn't have time 2. She knows her business much better than I do. 3. She only wants links that will benefit her. And any one that emails her and isn't what she wants...gets zapped. She's as happy as a clam and she is contributing to the building of the site and gives her a feeling of ownership.

I get a couple of requests a day. Nothing major and I would say 99.9% of them I delete. Either they are so far from relevant or they are similar to the one above.
