This is a idea. You know that on skype you can have Skypecasts why dont you host one once a week so we can all talk.

but the time difference might be a problem. our users are (mostly) split between UK and US, up to 8 hours difference I believe.

That would be really cool.

It would be great. In one of my masters classes online we used IM all the time. It did take some adjustment for the times, but so what if you had to get up at 4am to talk about a class project. It made thing more interesting.

ditto on that. Of course, it could be he never sleeps and uses toothpicks to keep his eyes open. Or it could be his clone we are talking to..... in any case, we could work time problems out if we really want something like this to work.

Yeah that would be very interesting. Maybe we should try it. I think us webforumz peoples could all sign on to MSN once a week to talk. But what are we going to talk about is the question?

That can be a problem. We are bad enough here. So unless we set up ground rules, ie. web design questions and problems only or live design training by a specialist (Jacob flash, etc.) we might find ourselves discussing the finer points of tossing Rob off the Golden Gate Bridge here in San Francisco. There are positives and negatives, so it definately needs more discussion before we decide.

hmmm, yeah it could be kinda like a live webinar...we could even do screen casting...but what to discuss...hmmmm any thoughts?

Well, just a thought... or if someone was having a real problem we could work out solutions together as a group. it is a great opportunity for newbies to learn and oldbies feel like they are contributing to the forumz growth.

We should create a Webforumz Podcast.

I was thinking we could either use MSN, and just have a community chat and all talk as one big group...or two, we could build a chat room for webforumz...lol

The topic isn't a problem... We can talk about the latests post on the forums... There'll always be plenty to talk about.

The great thing is, now that we have so many users, I don't get to go through all the threads like I used to. So we can share all the goodies we pick up during the week...

Although this is a very interest idea (the webinar thing ... short of a conference thingy) ... don't you think it defeats the idea of the forumz?

Unless you add the chat scripts somewhere on the forumz so that other people can have access to it?

The problem expressed earlier about the timezone is a pretty big one ... I'm not getting up at 3AM just to chat about what's going on in the forums. I have a kid, well 2 if you count my husband, and a 7:30AM to 3:30PM job during the week. Of course ... I could be the only person with that problem

Nope you are not alone. Although I am no longer married which is a wonderful thing.

I guess that means you are not superMom. (just kidding Karinne.) It can be very difficult to do real time. Remember I said I use to get up at 4am sometimes.
I can tell you that not every one made it to every chat and we use to have someone who took notes (on their own) and posted them so others could see them. It worked great getting my masters.

Maybe we could set up something that was very unstructured. For example, Someone would just post the time they will be on msn and if anyone wants to talk, they can link up and talk. And if it's not a good time for another person, not problem. we just make sure we keep the forum up on what was discussed.
This is just an idea.

I am still a big supporter of a webforumz chat room. That would cut back on a lot of the spam, and stupid posts...and you could just popon when ever you sign on webforumz. It would be kinda cool and not that hard to accomplish.
