It's lonely out here in internet land

Hi, just a quick question to everyone here. It might seem like an odd one but here goes.

Do you not think it get's a bit quiet and a bit lonely when your doing the internet thing. I mean through the week I got to uni, and of a weekend I do stuff with friends. But right now I'm sat at computer trying to figure out why the guy who said ruby was an easy language lied to me. But even though I'm busy and I've got message boards, blogs with interactive features and even instant messaging and text messaging if you want, everything feels so remote, distant, unconnected. I mean I'm hardly wallowing in the depths of my own despair but there's something about this whole internet thing that doesn't sit right with me, it feels almost inhuman. And for all it's bells and whistles and 'social networking' features the internet sure has hell feels like a lonely place to be sometimes.

Then again maybe it's just me, I don't really want to get into a philosophical debate about the place the internet should occupy in our lives (though feel free) but I just wondered if it's only me that feels this, at times, overbearing sense of isolation.

not overbearing isolation...but i understand what you're saying. Being lonely stinks...

and thats why you go chill with people...

They're all asleep now. And they shout at me if I wake them up with phone calls after midnight. I could sleep myself but I have work to do. It's a lose lose situation.

The joy of having friends that don't sleep....ahh

hahaha...lol, I can't say I have ever really felt lonely when on the computer, as when ever I sign on I have 45 people popup asking me questions...etc. I find the internet is where I spend 98% of my time, and I always enjoy it...maybe I should get out more...maybe I am lonely and just don't know it...lol

I live in Las Vegas. The Strip is 10 minutes away should I get lonely.

*dreams of a nearby 24 hour city.
