What next gen system are you guys getting?

Well since I see this as an offtopic area, what next generation system are you guys getting? Im getting the Nintendo Wii. I may consider the PS3 wwwaaaayyyy later on. But what about you all?

I don't really play games...count me out.

Just no time....with work, and life. Plus I really suck at them...lol

I don't like the new games. They're too complicated for me. I'll say yes to Super Mario, but anything else and I just can't find the time to learn. Enjoy being 17.

I'm getting a MacBook Pro, however! SOOOOOOO EXCITED.

hehe Macbook Pro = Good. I play Wolf ET, World of Warcraft, and yeah still play Starcraft sometimes lol. And of course having a Macbook Pro myself I also play windows only titles on occassion blah blah.. Not too much gaming though.

It is nice though haveing one sexy little portable machine and being able to run ANY software in the store. Ahh freedom!

I dont really play PC games. They dont really interest me. but is it possible ot play them on a notebook?

Now whats wrong with windows?

More importantly, what isn't?

Its bloated, sloppy recycled code, a big security hole, particuarly moody, extremely vulnerable to corruption, breaches and virii, MS releases things with a "release now, fix later" mentality and while some aspects of it are good, many are not. But the same could be said for anything I guess. =)

I have used Windows since 3.1 (Even have XP Pro on my Macbook)
Use XP Pro at work (Hate it)
Macs since OS 6
Even worked on Silicone Graphics Stations although I can't say I enjoyed that particular version of Unix used on the Repri's.

Yes windows works, yes it is main stream, yes it does have advantages but all in all from my own experiences there are many other better things out there such as the various distros of Linux and of course the Mac OS.

Why any one would prefer windows is beyond me other than they require it to perform some function like work. That is like saying AOL has the most intelligent user base on the internet. tee hee.

AOL is a virus...but windows is not...

No, Windows is not a virus. Here's what viruses do:

1. They replicate quickly. ... Okay, Windows does that.

2. Viruses use up valuable system resources, slowing down the system as they do so. ... Okay, Windows does that.

3. Viruses will, from time to time, trash your hard disk. ... Okay, Windows does that too.

4. Viruses are usually carried, unknown to the user, along with valuable programs and systems. ... Sigh.. Windows does that, too.

5. Viruses will occasionally make the user suspect their system is too slow (see 2) and the user will buy new hardware. ... Yup, Windows does that, too.

Until now it seems Windows is a virus but there are fundamental differences: Viruses are well supported by their authors, are running on most systems, their program code is fast, compact and efficient and they tend to become more sophisticated as they mature.

So Windows is not a virus. ... It's a bug.

Heh, well there is that. He just has never used anything else I think. Its all good. To each their own I say! Yup I am a beer snob, a computer snob and an angry dwarf. (Midget tossing anyone?). Its an old debate. Speaking of I think I am going to install windows under Bootcamp again.. Want to play some MOHAA Pacific Assault. Grargh!

But to be fair, Apple has had some serious screw ups too. But they tend to fix them quicker and actually fix them not just cover them up. I have known a few coders for MS and each one of them owned 2 - 4 Macs and no PC's at home. The horror stories I would here. But I will be buying Vista when it comes. And happily.

Well I definatly would not use linux, it seems so complicated to work with... And I never had any problems with windows...

Oh and I have used mac before... but never linux.

Oh ok, so you have never used the Ctrl + Alt + Delete because your computer froze up, or an unresponsive program. Now Linux, is more for server oriented stuff. Like hosting websites and such. Linux is GREAT!!

There is a big difference between using a Mac and using a Mac in an education environment. And maybe you should check out Ubuntu. very easy, very clean, very nice. I like it almost as much as OS X heh.

Oh wait, Ive had to use ctrl alt del plenty of times... Programs shut down for no reason and then it says that it had no response. I get that all the time.. I mean ALOT... Is that what you mean by virus?
