CSS and AJAX

Am trying to design a personal site, eventually AJAXing it up a bit, but it will be personal, and also for business, like to advertise me (I am a magicians, for weddings etc.) and also perhaps for a type of online CV.

I hope you can all head me in the right direction. All I have now is http://www.marc.ph/site/table.htm (which uses Tables and CSS) and http://www.marc.ph/blog (my blog with one post.)

I think I need help on the coding part. Maybe to get rid of that table there, making that pure CSS. I also want it, when the content overflows, the centre, left and right divs will grow as well, repeating that background.

Once I get this done, I can continue to work on it. Also, that word "About" is not working in IE at all.

Help appreciated, im a n00b with CSS, but doing it so I can make different stylesheets and things.

Re: CSS and AJAX

A bit of progress so far at http://www.marc.ph/site/css.htm

Comments on design and little help pointers are appreciated, as well as every comment posted here will be

edit: Having trouble with the text going too far, and not expanding everything, therefore going outside the box (I want the whole thing to expand if the text exceeds the left or middle box.)

Don't even get me started on the problems with it in IE. Need help here too

Re: CSS and AJAX

improving...

for best practice, use headings and proper document structure...
look at the page with CSS disabled and make sure it is readable...

there are tricks out there to make the footer bg stick to the bottom of the page, or you can use a separate div

Re: CSS and AJAX

Done. I just set "bottom" in the stylesheet. One thing is though, i want the other divs to grow along with the text. Very stuck here.

( And need to fix this for IE )

Re: CSS and AJAX

- Slice this image - http://www.marc.ph/site/images/index_02.jpg
- make height 1px
- use background-repeat:repeat-y;
