Glitchy (XHTML w/ CSS)

i'm have problems with a couple little things.

1) i get a purple border around my side navigation bar buttons (is it something to do with #sidenav below. I made the buttons with Corel Draw 10 and exported them as GIFs. I didn't do any formatting in the .css to make it do that (as far as i can tell)and i've been trying all day to get rid of it.

2) i can't figure out what I have to do to make an image (a link button on the side navigation bar) change when the mouse hovers. Can this be done in the .css {see #sidenav below}

3) my #content border doesn't go along the bottom (it get's cut off) on all of my pages except for one. I don't get it.

If any one out there has a suggestion or two, that would be great!

By default, browsers show images with borders. Use this line in your style sheet to switch them off:

<hr height="1" noshade id="quote"></blockquote id="quote"></font id="quote">It can be done, but the effect isn't very smooth in some browsers. Basically, you'd have an <a> with a background image like:

#menu.btn1 a { background: url(images/button1-up.gif) }

Then, on the hover action of the <a> tag change the background image:

<hr height="1" noshade id="quote"></blockquote id="quote"></font id="quote">CSS-P (CSS - absolute Positioning) is unfortunately not very well supported by mainstream browsers at the moment, so strage stuff tends to occur. Never use it myself so can't really help on that one. It might help if you can provide a URL where we might see what is happening.

Thanks very much for the advice. I'll give it a go. As for seeing any thing on the web...i'm not there yet. Hoping to get a URL next week.
