Symbols in CSS

Hi,

I'm having trouble with the way symbols like bullet points and speech marks etc appear in certain browsers.

Originally i was having trouble only in IE. I got told to change the encoding from ‘UTF-8’ to ‘charset=iso-8859-1.'

This seemed to sort out the problems with IE but now I'm having problems in Safari and Firefox. Does anyone have any ideas?

Also, when I open the html file in dreamweaver, it is completely freezing up the application, it lags for about 2 minutes then as soon as I try to do anything, it lags again.

Would appreciate any help. Kind regards,
Paul

Re: Symbols in CSS

For speech marks you should use " and not ". (HTML characters)

For bullet points, use CSS to choose from one of the list-style-types.

And regarding your Dreamweaver issues, this sounds like a system problem. When did the issue first start occurring (and does it happen with other files?).

Re: loading issues, dreamweaver is fine with all other files apart from this website. There was no problems initially, then it just happened out of the blue and hasn't stopped. i hough it might be something in the code that's doing it but I have no idea what.

cheers,
Paul

Better yet, use <q>Quote or speech here</q>, and apply an IE fix.
