Roll Over Images

First of all i have 2 questions!
  1. On a website, where you have small images across the bottom and then when you roll over them they show bigger at the top. What is this called?
  2. Can roll over images be used, as the big image?
Thanks, in advance, for anyone who can supply the answers.
Adam

Re: Roll Over Images

1) they are called disjointed rollovers.
2) depends how you want to do it.

css can change the image, but basically there just a rollover... won't remember what you pushed etc

Best way would be Javascript. where you have the small images as buttons (can just look like an image though) can also make it so it doesn't reload every time you click but shows a different layer.

Can't help on the code im no javascript expert but google around or feel free to post a thread in the javascript section.

Re: Roll Over Images

I used this code for my click to enlarge on the pics.

Had to tweak it a bit to get it to work exactly how we wanted it, but its good.

Re: Roll Over Images

It called a ROLLOVER IMAGE.
You can use any types of media (image, icon, text, etc..) to do that.

You might want to check this link:
1. Image Rollover
2. OnMouseOver - Put your image inside the <div id="div1">
3. Or maybe some of this: HoverBox Image Galleries

Hope that it gives you an alternative option
Cheers...

Re: Roll Over Images

Hey shammy2007,

I like your idea, but when they come up in the white box, can you like put a roll over image in there.

Also if you create a roll over image, can you save it and it will still work when you veiw it outside of dreamweaver?

Re: Roll Over Images

Id say yes the rollover image will work outside of dreamweaver.
Dreamweaver is only a place where you code your site. Once you upload all the images and files to your server and have it all linked properly the yeah it would work.

Re: Roll Over Images

What do you mean by save them as files?
They are consider as files by the way rattlesnak (img file, html file, css file) They are all files.
Maybe it's your link referring to the image is not right.

Re: Roll Over Images

What i mean is create the roll over image, and then save it it outside of dreamweaver. So like when you veiw it, outside of dream weaver, and put you mouse over it still works.

This is beacause i would like to use the roll over image in the lightbox mode, so it comes up in the box and still works.

If this possible.

Re: Roll Over Images

If your building this feature into your website and you have the coding all correct then once you upload all the files to your server hosting account, then its going to work. All websites need to be hosted somewhere.

Re: Roll Over Images

Yeah, It is posible!
Did you have any server installed in your PC like IIS, or apache?
Or you could try hosting them in a free host to see if they are working or not! They will surely do
