Cool [SOLVED] Difficulty with HTML E-mail...

What's happening, All...

I've read everything I can find about writing a really 'clean' cross-email service HTML email, but I'm having one issue (If there are any 'Horde' users, your input would really help).

What's happening is that my email shows up and looks perfect in Google, MSN, and Yahoo mail systems. But in the simpler 'Horde' mailer, all I see is the code, as though it were purely a text email.

But this isn't the real problem. The real problem is that newsletter emails from companies like Godaddy.com and my bank, and whoever, all show up fine in 'Horde'. What am I doing wrong?

Is there a special line of code that makes the email servers go straight to displaying the email as (for lack of a better term) a web page? I realize the 'smarter' email servers can probably make sense of things, but what about the simpler systems.

If need be, I can post the email that I've put together, but it's like any other web page. So it wouldn't make much difference. I simply cut and paste the email into my mass email service, and in every other mail service it looks great, except this idiot 'Horde'. But how, I ask you, are the other companies getting theirs to pass straight to displaying as they have intended?

Sorry so long-winded. But I'm new to this territory and want to make sure my inquiry is as clear as possible.

You guys rock,
The Lion.

Cool Re: Difficulty with HTML E-mail...

Thanks, Lchad... I appreciate the help. The link you provided did not do it for me as a genuine fix, only because I'm already using the latest version of 'Horde'. However, the language they used in that forum provided a clue to a different possibility that ultimately helped me figure out a solution...

As it turns out, the reason the email was displaying as all text was because I hadn't included a 'plain-text alternative'. Though many of the larger, more robust mail servers will allow you to look at HTML emails without 'plain-text alternatives', some smaller, less robust mail servers won't. 'Plain-text alterantives' need not be too complex -a couple lines with a text link to copy and paste into the address bar to navigate readers to the 'base document' (an actual online version of the email with an address) will suffice. But it absolutely has to be there.

I guess most mail servers will flag an HTML email without a 'plain-text alternative' as spam and simply push it off to a filter, which still keeps it viewable as indended (as HTML). But small mail servers don't have this luxury. They pass the HTML email straight through as text, which appears to the viewer as the original lines of HTML coding.

So, include your simple 'plain-text alternative', and everything is a total go...
