[SOLVED] Validating HTML

I have validated my css and it's great.

The only issue I have is my html. Although my html editing program vaildates it as good, I can't validate it through validator.w3.org.
It keep saying this

Quote:
No Character Encoding Found! Falling back to UTF-8.
None of the standards sources gave any information on the character encoding labeling for this document. Without encoding information it is impossible to reliably validate the document. As a fallback solution, the "UTF-8" encoding was used to read the content and attempt to perform the validation, but this is likely to fail for all non-trivial documents.

How do I fix this?

Re: Validating HTML

Have you got this:
Code: Select all
    <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8" />
In your <head> tags?

It would also be helpful if you can link us to the website so that we can see for ourselves

Re: Validating HTML

Ok now it's validated. Could you look at the website and see what would be a good place to put the icon?

Re: Validating HTML

I wouldn't even bother with that. Your users don't care about validation (they don't even know what it is).

What's the point in bragging? If it doesn't help your users, it doesn't belong on your web page.

Re: Validating HTML

What about future clients that may know about it? Wouldn't they like to know that the can rely on a well designed site?

Re: Validating HTML

Generally client look at your portfolio to see how well you can design websites and your website. Very seldom do clients even know what web standards are. After all, they are suppose to trust you with their website.
