The Most Versatile Layout (beginner)

Hello all, this is my first post!!
I hope I will be able to learn and contribute.
first off, im a programmer, and I want to start making web sites!

My websites will be simple, so what I am looking for is:

***important note: I am only looking for a simple 3 column + header
+ footer layout.
  • The most versatile layout - whether it is pure css, or minimal tables - the layout that will work with the maximum possible amount browsers new and old, the most or at least most popular resolutions, whether it is liquid or fixed.
  • A resource or means by which I can test layouts on the available platforms, e.g, IE, mozzila, opera, mac etc. - is there a site you can submit your code to and do this?

Thankyou very much for your time,
TheLove - youll get some of it!

If you want to see what your site looks like, across different browsers, young and old, and on different OS, then what you want is www.browsercam.com
You sign up, which is free, and you get 24hrs to submit your site, and it will process the site you have, and give you a screenshot of each one you select. Its an awesome tool and comes in very handy.

Re: The Most Versatile Layout (beginner)

Another classic post... "I want it all and I want it simple." Well, don't we all. If you took just 10 minutes of your time to do some research you would find your answer pretty easy. Also, simple is relative to each individual.

If you have a background in programming, then learning HTML and CSS shouldn't be to difficult, but apparently you want to put in as little effort as possible. Good luck finding somebody to do all the research for you for free and find you something simple that requires no effort. Maybe you should talk with Mr. click and drop semi-professional software dude who ended up getting dreamweaver which completely went against his simple philosphy.
