Please help, Problems with my blog

Hi,

I currently have a blog situated at surfthegecko now in order to get the blog posts to display in the main content area without messing the rest of the layout up I had to configure it all within an additiona div. so the basic layout is as follows:

<div id="container">
<div id="content">
<div id="mainblog">
Posts are then displayed within this area
</div>
</div>
</div>

Now I can make it look fine within 800x600 screen res but when its switched to a higher res mode eg 1024x768 it all stays squashed to the left hand side of the "content" div. Now I understand that this will be to do with the fact that I have set the #mainblog div to width: 365px; but this was done because otherwise it completely pushed my template all out of shape.

Does anybody know how I can make it all sit neatly within the screen on 800x600 res and higher.

Sorry if this doesnt make sense, if there is something that doesnt please shout and I will try to clarify.

Many thanks in advance.

Nick

PS It is very much a work in progress template so I am aware of the fact that the main header logo doesnt work and doesnt have things like alt="" plus general layout issues, but I am trying to consentrate on this blooming #mainblog div at the moment. So no laughing....well okay maybe a little.

Re: Please help, Problems with my blog

Hi Thanks for the info, I have set the #content properties to text-align:center; and it has at least centralised it so it doesnt look so daft anymore, which is cool, cheers for the help.

I take it there is no way to make the #mainblog width any bigger depending on the screen res is there?

Re: Please help, Problems with my blog

width: 100%; should make it the same width as its parent container

Re: Please help, Problems with my blog

OMG,

Well thats embarrassing, i didnt even consider %, which is obvious when you are trying to get a relational sizing based on resolution.....however the 100% didnt work it still forced my template out of shape, but I can only assume thats because the parent container uses padding/margins, could somebody tell me if this is rubbish.

Anyway I tried it on 95% and it is all working fine now, and fits as snug as a bug.

Thanks for all your help.

Many thanks
Nick
