Font Format
Can someone explain why the font I use in my Frontpage website appears different in the published version in IE7? Is there some options I need to tweak?
Thanks. |

PLEASE READ: How and When to post your question!
3. Provide a link. If you don't have hosting setup yet, there are plenty of Free Hosting providers out there. A popular, no hassle choice is Freewebs. 4. If you have code you would like to post, please put it in [ code ]... [ /code ] tags! I strongly suggest you stop using Front page to create you website. There are better HTML Editors out there. WYSIWYG editors like Front page tend to generate non-standard code. And therefore result in your site not looking very good in all major browsers like IE(6 & 7), Firefox, Opera, Safari, etc... Re: Font Format
My guess is that it is not a browser supported font. The browser safe fonts are listed here.http://www.ampsoft.net/webdesign-l/WindowsMacFonts.html

Re: Font Format
You might consider updating to Expression Web - especially if you are not relying on Frontpage Components since Frontpage Server Extensions are not going to be supported much longer by most hosting companies. Expression Web is much better and it creates compliant XHTML / HTML code.
I would imagine that you might be testing it on the same computer and the font is installed. But IE 7 is reading code a lot better than its predecessor and FP is creating code that sometimes even IE 7 cannot / will not read. |

Re: Font Format
The font has to be on the users computer or a substitute will be used. There are methods for embedding fonts etc butt hat does increase download/load times to first time visitors.

Re: Font Format
Thank you for you answers. The only reason I'm using FrontPage is that I want to knock up a basic website within a few months and I had FrontPage on my PC.
Once we have learnt some basic stuff about website design and building, we're hoping to revamp teh website using, I don't really know at thi smomemnt. Perhaps Dreamweaver? |

Re: Font Format
Expression Web is the new Dreamweaver. The code it creates is compliant. It comes with a few templates that I have tested in the past and all the code is compliant and shows up the same in all browsers.
You might be able to get an upgrade for less than $100 over at Amazon. |
