How Do I Put Music On Website?

Sorry if I've posted this in the wrong place - but hope u can help!

How do I put music on a web site? (I am using FP2000)

I'd like to have a choice of a few songs and I want the visitor to be able to choose and control the tracks/sound/on-off option - no matter what page they are on within the site.

I've been advised against using Windows Media Player which is my default player. (I have used this in the link below only as an example...I know it's not right.)
I want the player/song to be accessible and controlled throughout the whole site, not page by page. Hope that makes sense? Maybe using frames would help but thats an area I'm unsure of. Or maybe a 'floating' player ie. always on top? I dunno...

I've been testing some apps (mostly freeware) such as GeoAmp, Thomson mp3 pro, XPlayer, AudioActive and Mediachance's free mp3 player: this is the type of thing I visualise on the site.

Is there a small, simple player I could use? A plug-in or add-on maybe?
Or is javascript or something the answer?
