how can you put your own online status on your website ? - maybe an image with 'online' that appears whenever you are signed in

This was talked about a bit in a thread started by Aaron in the PHP forum. Using a database would be the simplest way in the long run.

thanks, i have just had a peek, and it is good - except i only want it to 'appear' when i am online + i think it would have to be in a layer because i dont want it visable if i am not signed in to my website, - and i dont have any idea about databases

There were plenty to choose from if you had an MSN account, ICQ, AIM... but I didn't think that's what you wanted...
