css and layout

Hi,
I am just testing a webpage on my hosting account, and having used CSS for first time proper...

When I uploaded it to the server, adn then went to view, the right hand column went straight underneath the left hand column, I am using a three colmn layout with CSS. And then I clicked on another page, and the layout was ok.

using just CSS the right hand column would go underneath the lefthand coumn when I shrunk my browser. I would prefer to use just CSS, hence the reason for using a table in both columns

And the two images "members", and "search" don't seem to want to appear, and I can't see why, when they do on my PC.

Can anyone help/explain?

Hi...

Firstly, I think the template looks ok (or would if it displayed correctly)

However, I think it totally pointless to be using a CSS 3 column layout and then cram that full of tables for layout.

That completely defeats the object of a CSS layout and you really should consider some of the templates available at www.alistapart.com, www.glish.com

Two more worth mentioning are here:-

Perhaps the best source ordered CSS 3 column, is here:

I would seriously consider porting your layout over to one of these and lose the tables.... they just are not nessesary.

Hi

These templates are with text, and I found that when I filled mine with graphics, and then shrunk the browser, the right hand column would start to appear underneath the centre.

Maybe I just did something I shall give it another go, my friend has just told me the same as you....why the tables?

ANyway many thanks for the links...and advice, I will try again but no tables. ANd see what happens with them.
