Re: New To Web Design Help Please
There can be, but in order to be able to earn enough to live on you have allot of learning to do, although courses can be good, sometimes they are behind on today's standards and teaching peole the wrong way to design
to give you a kick start, check out w3schools html section and w3schools css section , these cover the very first baby steps in web design, ( learn html first, then move onto css ) another good tip is to right click your mouse and click view source to see what is there to get an idea of what would be involved - the very first statement when designing a website is the DOCTYPE , please look it up on the internet and check it out.... these are fundamental elements in today's web design .. good luck, and dont give up...

Re: New To Web Design Help Please
W3Schools as Saltedm8 pointed out is better than any college course. There are also hundreds of free template sites where you can download free templates and play around with the code. The best way to learn is to get stuck right in, particularly using one of the hundreds of free templates available to play around with the code and tutorials provided by W3Schools.
Web Design is a 'cut throat' industry though and it will take you a good couple of years of learning before you can think about being taken seriously. Once you have learned the basics you should consider offering free web design packages or very highly discounted packages in order to build a portfolio and in that process you will also learn a lot more. Good luck! This is the best place to learn

Re: New To Web Design Help Please
I've started teaching myself around 4 years ago and although can put together a great design, I veered off and learnt seo too which in itself is complex.
These guys are so right - w3c schools is where you should go after you've completed your home course, because no doubt the home course will teach you one way and you need to learn more than one - web 2.0 is great, but lots of catching up compared to what standard courses are teaching. And also a 'cut throat' industry is too true so be 300% confident that that's what you want to do - I know too many people that haven't stuck with it, at the same time I know loads that have and are doing great in their business. I've earned from it but have not put more than a couple of hours a day, whenever you go into serious business you are talking 24 hours and more per day !! So it's not just the industry etc that you have to be into, but it's working from home too where you have to be hugely disciplined. I wish you the best and hope you stick at it, let us all know how you get on, you'll get more advice here so keep posting!! |
