Exclamation Designer's vanished - help!

A friend of mine runs a sports club and he asked a friend to set up, register up and design a club website.

Now the designer has vanished!

He stated the domain name is paid for and registered and the very basic site has been set up.

I've said that I'll do what I can; he stated that he has a password but that's all.

Can anyone tell me how I access the site so I can do some work??

This is it by the way http://www.leedssamuraimartialarts.co.uk/

Thanks in advance...

Wow...I've fallen at the 1st hurdle!

My friend will be e-mailing the guy who registered the domain with a few questions...I guess this should be one of them??

What others should he ask?

Thanks

Re: Designer's vanished - help!

admin logon name / pwrd being number one

once you have that (along with the host), login and change the password.

also get rid of any secondary access acounts (ftp etc), just in case he has a backdoor

Hi there..the guy who runs the club asked me the following question/s:

"Andy , just one more question. We already have the website and address but don't have the host details. How easy would it be to find a new host? and we keep the second website which was applied for 2 weeks ago.."

Thanks in advance!

Re: Designer's vanished - help!

Hi, I may be in the same boat. Designer doesn't reply to emails.

However I have no password--nothing. The domain name has been registered by the designer and its identity is secret. Designer also hosting it.

Someone said that I cannot access the website to edit it.
Can this be true?
If so Ii have wasted alot of money. Do I have to start again?

Re: Designer's vanished - help!

It seems a company called phase8 has control over the server that the site is hosted on.

http://www.phase8.com/ maybe you should start there by contacting them and tell them whats going on. they may be able to help you restore access to admin areas.

Perhaps give me a shout via msn messenger if you want and I can help you resolve this. I have had this situation myself before with clients and have always managed to get a speedy acount recovery.

Re: Designer's vanished - help!

A tip - when getting a website, ensure the domain is registered IN YOUR NAME even if the designer manages it himself.

This way you can claw it back if needs be.

Not tht helpful at this stage though, sorry!
