Help with key words
I am getting no traffic from search engines. How do I get into the search engines like Google? Unless I give someone the address they can't find me. What can I do to fix it? Any help please. I have a lot of key words and phrases but they don't seem to be working.

Re: Help with key words
How long has your site been up and have you submitted it to Google and Yahoo's free submission?
If you have submitted it, it can take 12 weeks+ to be picked up. It's basically something that requires patience. Looking at your site, your entrance page is going to kill you with search engines because you don't have any text. The index page is the most important since most often that's the only page that gets crawled. You need to find places or other sites that will place a link to your site on their site (back links). Original titles on each page. Right now you have. Quote:
Independent Motorcycle Riders of East...etc. Your homepage only has links on it. Again, not much there for the search engines that seems relevant or worthwhile. You must have text or the search engine will not find you site worthy of indexing. Some people say Meta tags are obsolete. I disagree to some extent and put them in as a "just in case". So do not rely on those to get you the search results you want. We have a section called SEO, click through that for other tips. By the way, your site needs a doc type. |

Re: Help with key words
Hiya
You have far too many keywords for the page as far as I know. I'm not sure which page design program you are using, but I am unfamiliar with the term keyphrases as well |

Re: Help with key words
Be as concise and relevant as possible as has already been sadi. SEO is a black art and requires time and lots small tweaks until you get the right results. It can take a long time to achieve good rankings and requires constantly changing content and a never say die attitude.
Like Linda said, that splash page is no good you should be getting right into the main content its bad SEO but besides when someone types in your site in the address bar or clicks a link from a search engine then they don't want to be taken to a link to your homepage. That's absurd. Another problem is that you have no actual content. You have a list of links on your actual home page and nothing about the site itself. The most important thing is the quality of content and how accessible that is. That doesn't mean only put good quality info when you are three levels deep. You need to to look at how the site is organised before you do anything and concewntrate on making the content of your site visibile to search engines; don't hide it away in sub pages. Pete. |
