Re: Pricing a template

Hmmm, now it just depends on the design. How fancy are you making these?

Re: Pricing a template

I think $75 - $100 dollars would be fair. But if you wanted to sell a bunch try $50! Also offer a unique price of like $500, which means after someone buys the unique price you will no longer sell that template.

Re: Pricing a template

For that Template I'd sell it for $25-50 as its mostly just a layout with matching color scheme. I price templates based on time it takes me to do them. $100 being a full hour and then I just see how long it takes me to code them. Usually I make my templates from websites that customers decided they didn't want so I just offer them as a template for a very cheap price. Unique buyouts that I offer are usually anywhere from $500 - 1000 depending on the site. If they want me to code it it goes even higher though.

Re: Pricing a template

Oh Justin, that's a great idea. I have many really nice rejected designs. How do you go about selling them? Are they on your site or a template site?
Info please!!!! Can you send me a link to how you do it?

Please????????????

What do you include? CSS/HTML, PSD files?

Re: Pricing a template

Usually I just sell them to local businesses around town that have really bad websites. They don't want to pay money to hire someone so I show them some printouts of what I offer and let them know that they can buy a template for cheap or I can code it for them. Usually they just buy the template and I make a nice little profit.

I've tried selling on Template sites but they take a good portion of your sells and your design is going to be buried behind the thousands of others unless someone buys it when its new.

I will be adding a template section to my website which launches tomorrow. I really don't have that many templates ready to launch with it because most of the templates are old Tables that I need to convert to XHTML/CSS designs.

Re: Pricing a template

Yeah, I would just sell them on your website. Write up a short simple contract and have them click I Agree then show some screen shots of all of the templates. Then people can buy them though Paypal and you can send them the files. Easy and simple money!
