Search Engines
Does anyone know if there is a free or cheap way to get your sites onto search engines such as google and yahoo. I have looked on the internet but they seem rather expensive.
Thanks

Re: Search Engines
Thanks for your reply but im still quite confused. Im new to designing and don't quite know what all of that means. Im just trying to get my site added as soon as possible and know that the bots can take quite some time to search through the HTML and find good sites to add

Re: Search Engines
Moojoo is right. Plus you can manually submit your website to search engines. I am going to include the link to google. What this does is you type in the information. Then it will send a robot to your webpage. If everything looks good, HTML, CSS, and also if you have good META tags, they will add you to the dictionary. Here is the link to google.

If you don't know what META tags are please reply to this post and ask us. This is a very important thing for a website designer to know about.

Re: Search Engines
You can manually submit your site to search engine. But before submitting makes sure that your website has gone through a proper optimization process. Meta tags are properly placed and arranged as per the search engine requires. Meta tags are important from search engine point of view. If don’t know all about these Meta tags then contact to a SEO specialist. Don't get confused! Ask us through this post.

Re: Search Engines
I don't think META are of that importance now-a-days rather concentrate on building relevant high quality backlinks with unique contents. on-site optimisation will help you a lot
Most effective way to attract bots is by having quality baklinks to your site also don't forget to build and submit sitemap at google this helps bots identify pages of your site so that can crawl your site more easily.

What do you need manual submission for? I guess quality backlinks are enough to get indexed, at least for Google.

Re: Search Engines
Manual submission only takes a few minutes, and is certainly worth the effort.
We pretty much manage to maintain a top spot on Google and Yahoo just by implementing a few tactics that even a novice can do without having to outsource to an SEO specialist. Here are my 2 cents...
1) Target your keywords. Make sure those keywords are in your coding several times (not just images of text). Where you have images make sure you use the "alt image" tag and use this as an opportunity to increase your keywords. We also make it a practice to name our image files relevant to our keywords -- i.e., instead of naming an image generically i.e.,-- "graphic1.jpg" -- use a keyword descriptive name -- "widget.jpg."
2) Keyword Meta tags are not really used by Google other than providing another instance of your targeted keywords in your coding, so it certainly does not hurt to have them. And perhaps some of the other search engines are still reading them.
3) Google in particular is looking at link reciprocity-- sites that are linking back to yours. One way to increase your linkbacks is by placing classified ads online. There are tons of freebies out there. Placing your url in these provides links back to your site.
Hope this was helpful!

Re: Search Engines
Peter are you an SEO expert ?
I think there is no need to hire anybody, SEO is not that hard if you work properly and know what you are doing.

Re: Search Engines
Well, Ranking higher in search engine result pages has never been that easy. Given the presence of numerous websites and intense competition on the internet, you really have to seek the help of expert hands to make your website rank higher. It depends what your website business is all about and what the keywords are on which you want your website to rank higher. Factors like these can make a world of difference to your SEO campaign. However, unless you have spent a good deal of time experimenting and learning the the changing criteria of SEO, it is really tough to rank higher.

Re: Search Engines
Ok, first do analysis of your site to find out from which field it is related, find keywords for your site, write proper meta tag, content with inclusion of those keywords, do search engine submission manually, article marketing , directory submission i. e. search engine optimization or you can go for any firm providing seo services and you can get your website listed in organic results...
