Google backlinks and Yahoo backlinks

Hi All

Just a quicky, why do yahoo show more links than google when using link:yourwebsite?

Google doesn't show the true number of links.
using link:fyneworks.com Google publicly reports 550 links to my site.
Using Google sitemaps, Google reports over 4,000 links.

Also, there will always be a discrepancy because they have different systems in place.
Google may disregard a link that it believes to be spam, Yahoo may not be as strict.

oh right thats a big difference!, is there any guidelines to increase google links?

Google pick up whatever links it finds to be relevant. How you go about getting links is up to you. Link shares, directory submissions, etc... Best way is to get yourself some link bait.

Presumably.

Yahoo! Site Explorer shows you exactly each link Yahoo Search has found pointing to your domain. And this information is public.

Google Sitemaps (Webmaster Tools) also give you this information, but only after you have authenticated the website (ie.: proven that you own it).
